ONE -ON-ONE VIRTUAL THERAPY – AREAS OF PRACTICE – THERAPEUTIC STYLE – THEORETICAL APPROACH

ONE-ON-ONE VIRTUAL THERAPY
I offer online (virtual) one-on-one counselling & psychotherapy services to adults (18+) who reside in Ontario.
Additionally, I work with Veterans as well as military and RCMP members who live in Ontario.

AREAS OF PRACTICE

I have special interests in:
– Trauma & PTSD
– Moral injury, feeling disenfranchised, institutional trauma/betrayal
– Grief, loss, & life transitions
– Anxiety/worry/stress
– Depression/feeling down/low motivation
– Operational stress injuries (such as for Veterans)
THERAPEUTIC STYLE: HOW I SHOW UP FOR YOU IN THERAPY
Thebest predictor for growth and healing in therapy is the fit between you and your therapist.I strive to meet you with warmth and compassion, respect, authenticity, and when appropriate, a dash of humour.
First we work on building trust and rapport.Together, we identify what to work on in therapy and we buildskills to cope. Then when you are ready, and as long as you consent, we take the lid off pandora’s box andget to the “tough stuff”. Weharness and ground your courage to lean into this painto be able to move towarda more meaningful and fulfilling life.

I help you discovernew perspectives andnew skills, often checking how what we are talking about might be “landing with you”.
I act as aguiding light in the darkness, with the goal of passing you the lantern to carry on your journey ahead.

THEORIES: AN INTEGRATIVE APPROACH

I use anintegrativeapproach. This means I often pull from several approaches to meet your needs.
The main theoretical approaches I use and have training in are listed below. I am happy to unpack what these acronyms mean in the initial consult or in sessions:
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT, TI-CBT, including PE & CPT)
- Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)
- Acceptance And Commitment Therapy (ACT)
- Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)/attachment-based
- Client-centered, strengths-based, & mindfulness approaches, among others

I also use a holistic approach, considering your mental health in the context of many aspects of your life such as: physical health, social, spiritual, and more.
My practice is bothtrauma and evidence informed.
Above all else, building afoundation of trust is a focus for me as a therapist.
